UPDATE: If you’re looking for video of Vilsack’s speech at the JJ Dinner, the IDP is hosting the video here.
It sure looks like Vilsack’s stump speech that he’s giving down in Florida this weekend to FL Democrats is pretty similar to the one he gave at the Jefferson Jackson dinner in November. And that’s not a bad thing, because Vilsack’s speech was one of the best at JJ. Drew’s got more here, and parts of the speech have been reworked to fit better at the FL Dems speech, but indeed, it is quite the same.
As Hotline on Call notes, ‘community’ is the buzz word. In my interview with Vilsack back at JJ, that was the keyword then too. If you look at what the DLC espouses in its credo, it is quite similar. However, the emphasis on community is being stressed much, much more by Vilsack than any DLCers.
The rest of the run-down on Vilsack’s speech is here. It is a very personal and sad speech, yet at the same time powerful and effective. The key line about showing Karl Rove the door if he were president is still in there too. It is definitely a great line.
