Caucus results

After a very hectic day for me, I attended my precinct caucus, which was held at Harding Middle School in Des Moines (a site for about 10 other precincts as well). Each precinct was in a separate classroom. As expected, turnout was quite low. I am located in the Des Moines 4 precinct (my home address). In the 2004 caucus, we had at least 40 or 50 people show up–the highest turnout that we had had in our precinct for years.

Tonight, there were two people total. Myself and a nice guy from the UAW Local 310. Our precinct was alotted two delegates, so we both will be going to the Polk County Democratic Convention on Saturday, March 4th at Valley High School in West Des Moines. Our precinct did not break into preference groups.

Drew Miller is live-blogging his caucus up in Story County. Sounds like a busy time up there with lots of resolutions being introduced. They haven’t gotten to the point where a vote on breaking into preference groups begins, but with at least 75 people up there, it seems that someone will call for preference groups. Stay tuned to his place for more exciting details.

UPDATE: John Deeth live-blogged his caucus as well. No preference groups there, fairly small but decent turnout at his. Resolutions debated and passed as well.

And just for the record, I couldn’t have live-blogged my caucus if I wanted to or if it had been interesting–no wireless at my location.
