I didn’t write about this yesterday because I was taking a break, but here it is now. Take a look.
On Tuesday, Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack spoke at the National Press Club, speaking specifically on community as he continues to outline what his stump speech will look like come 2008 and his run for president.
Jane Norman of the Register’s Washington Bureau has the story on his speech here. The Fix blog of the Washington Post also has a write-up post here.
No matter what one thinks of Vilsack, his politics, and what his choice will do to the Iowa caucuses, anyone who has seen his stump speech know how powerful and moving it is. His reception nationally will be quite interesting to see over the next several months.
Oh, and the South Carolina Democratic Party has tapped him to be the keynote speaker at their Jefferson Jackson dinner. That’s a big deal.
…Oh, and he’s now on the record saying he’ll compete in the Iowa caucuses when he runs.
Here is my early prediction on a Vilsack run for President:
Vilsack enters the race. One or two of the heavy-hitting potential Dem candidates (Hillary, Edwards, Warner, Bayh) decide to run in Iowa. Vilsack loses in Iowa. Vilsack campaign folds by end of January 2008.
