Change the Map in Iowa

Former Governor Mark Warner (who again spoke with me on Sunday at the Steak Fry) let me know about a new intitiative they were launching on Sunday in an effort to help statewide Democrats get elected, called Change the Map in Iowa. It follows in the legacy of their mapchangers initiative and targets one state. There are amazing candidates who you can support in this endeavor. Hannah at Iowa Progress makes the case for Eric Palmer (a great candidate) and I’m sure we’ll see some cases made for many other candidates as well. (UPDATE: Kyle makes the case for Elesha Gayman, another great candidate, here.)

Let me make the case for a state senate candidate, Merle Johnson of State Senate District 35. He’s the former mayor of Ankeny — yes, there was an elected official in the suburbs who was a great Democrat. He was mayor for eight years, on the Ankeny school board, and other leadership organizations. And he has what it takes to lead the area, versus his Republican opponent Larry Noble. This seat is Jeff Lamberti’s former seat and we need to take it back to the Democratic column. Can you help Merle Johnson get $6500 from Forward Together? Vote for him today!
