Political Forecast was launched on August 1st, 2004, as “Chris’s Political Forecast” hosted by Blogger, a Google subsidiary. Over several months of development and posting, the site evolved, added an additional blogger, Chase Nordengren. Towards the end of the blog’s time on Blogger, Nate Koppel joined the blogging team.
Political Forecast is a blog for liberals, progressives, Democrats, and basically anyone who wants to join us. Our focus is broad–politics in general and however that connects to the rest of our world.
A link to the old Blogger site can be found here.
What other blogs have said about the Political Forecast–the good, the bad, and the ugly:
State 29: “If you read The Political Forecast you’ll see that the bulk of the posts are dominated by the obviously anti-Republican Chris Woods. If you’re into regurgitated and spun news via the WaPo and Slimes; passed-along posts from the Kossacks and Julio Yglesias; as well as the usual commentary on such trendy topics like Karlroveplamegate then this will be right up your alley, but it bores the shite out of me.”
State 29: “…That blog has a “Democrats can do no wrong” sycophantic attitude that makes us want to barf.”
Midwest Mesopotamia: “…A slick site…”
Mainstream Iowan: “…An obscure wannabebigger blogger (A.K.A. Political SoreAss)…”
Iowa Voice: “Some liberal blog that I’ve never heard of…”
In Muscatine: “Political Forecast decided to stage a pissing contest with people who are his superiors.”
State 29: “…Too obsessed with impeaching Bush over something - anything. Their rabid hyperpartisanship extends all the way to disallowing our country to defend itself from all enemies, foreign and domestic.”
State 29: “…you far-leftists are so annoying.”
Buster of In Muscatine: “Lordy! We have been fighting with a thirteen-year old kid? I was making jokes about his mommy knowing what he was doing, but I had no idea the Sore-Ass was actually a AICN-wanna-be who didn’t even have pimples yet, let alone not be old enough to shave.
No wonder he doesn’t know how to stage a good pissing contest.” — Please note that I am 20 years-old and not some washed-up, bearded hack (the guy on the left in this picture) who attacks a young one for his boyish good looks.
National Journal’s Hotline On Call: “It used to be, when a potential pres. candidate made his first _real_ trip to Iowa, his staff would make sure he dialed up Mike Glover, the state’s AP ace, or David Yepsen of the Des Moines Register, in advance.
Today — an Iowa Dem blogger [Chris Woods] got the call from ex-VA Gov. Mark Warner, who is due in Des Moines tomorrow.”
MyDD’s Matt Stoller: “Chris is now a kingmaker. :)” — said in reference to the above National Journal post. I’m really not a kingmaker. Really, I’m not.
